Female Therapist in Houston Texas

I earned my Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas.

As a counselor-in-training, I provided individual counseling to children, adolescents, and adults at crisis counseling centers and private practice. I supported clients dealing with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, suicidal ideation, and trauma. I had the privilege of counseling women who were survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I also served the Spanish- speaking community in need of bilingual therapy.

Additionally, I have experience working as a research assistant at a transgender health research lab at the University of Houston and volunteered at community events for trans youth and their families. These invaluable experiences taught me the challenges this population faces and the need for affirmative, empathic, and competent mental health providers.

My Philosophy

Critical self-talk, overwhelming stress, or traumatic events can interfere with you fully experiencing the present moment. Maybe certain emotions seem scary, so the easiest solution is to avoid them; however, our emotions are part of the human experience. I am here to remind you that you have the strength to face the uncomfortable and cope with life’s challenges.

Therapy with Me

I am a first-generation, Latina, LGBTQ+ affirming counselor. I am here to listen to your story and provide a warm and safe space where you can freely express what is on your heart and mind. I value the therapeutic relationship, so ours will be built upon honesty, openness, trust, and respect. I apply person-centered, CBT, and DBT principles in my work and will adjust my therapy style based on your concerns and needs. Through collaboration, my ultimate goals are to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and teach you healthy coping skills.

I like to spend my time cooking, baking, and reading. I also enjoy going to concerts and museums, trying out new restaurants in Houston, and traveling with my husband.
