Education

I received my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor Assoicate in the state of Texas. I am a certified Cognitive Behavioral Intervention Instructor who teaches CBI, Parenting, and Anger Management classes.

Experience

I have experience in providing psychotherapy and counseling therapies in group and individual format to women and children that have experienced trauma as a result of domestic violence and sexual assault. I have worked with adults, children, and adolescents with behavioral problems, mood disorders, family and relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, substance use/abuse, anger, peer pressure, self-esteem, suicide attempts, abuse, neglect, healthy coping, identity concerns, and ADHD in various settings. In addition, I have worked with underserved families who have come in contact with placement agencies such as CPS, RTC’s, Corrections, and Inpatient Treatment Mental Health Hospitals.

My Philosophy

No one has life figured out as we all hit roadblocks and bumps along the way. I genuinely believe that we are equipped with the inner strength needed to work through these difficulties as they arise.

My theoretical perspectives in healing span from relational psychodynamic theory, which focuses on helping you to better understand how your mind, body, and interpersonal life can work together to relieve your emotional pain and to create opportunities to make lasting changes in your life. I also lean on cognitive-behavioral theory, which focuses on how your thoughts determine your feelings and behaviors. In therapy there are numerous therapeutic approaches to pull from that will aid you in tapping into your inner strength to experience healing and change. In therapy, these therapeutic approaches are tailored to fit the needs of each individual.

Therapy with Me

I believe in empowerment and resilience. The therapeutic relationship should be built on trust, respect, and confidentiality in a caring, safe, and compassionate environment for you to explore life’s difficulties and concerns. I aim to provide an authentic and welcoming environment for you to be open and transparent. I am committed to supporting your needs while you unpack the “stuff” that has been weighing you down affecting your overall well-being. My hope is that after working with me that you feel more empowered and resilient in moving forward in your life and relationships.

I am experienced in working with adolescents, adults, and families who struggle with life’s difficulties, specifically anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, emotion regulation, and domestic and sexual abuse.

Personal

Outside of therapy, I volunteer and advocate for women and children who have been abused as a result of domestic violence. I also advocate for those in the criminal justice system getting the needed mental health services while incarcerated. I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, traveling, and watching Law/Crime television.
