Education

I received my Master of Education Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a dual-track in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston Victoria in Katy, Texas. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas.

Experience

I have been graced with the opportunity to work in settings with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds that have experienced trauma. My experience includes working with Fort Bend County Behavioral Health Services that coordinated care with the Department of Family Protective Services to provide counseling and parent visit coaching services to families. In addition, I have professional experience providing individual mental health counseling and family counseling at a residential treatment facility to children, youth, and adults.

Each of these experiences has allowed me to gain insight personally and professionally into the effects of trauma, as well as the tremendous value that providing and receiving support has the power to contribute to the lives of individuals impacted by trauma.

My Philosophy

My goal is to work collaboratively with my clients. I value each client’s individual identity and desired outcome. My goal is to empower each client to become their own best version of themselves as we work to identify what their goals are and their desired outcome. Clients have a personal stake in the outcome of therapy, which means that they should also have an active role in the therapeutic process.

Therapy with Me

Therapy is an opportunity for the counselor to build rapport and a strong therapeutic alliance with the client by fostering a relationship of honesty, respect, and trust. The process of therapy is protected and valuable. I believe in providing clients with a space that allows them to feel safe and free of judgment throughout the therapy process. I value the client’s individuality, feelings, and opinions.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families of diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs. I have gained a great deal of my experience working with children, adolescents, and families that have experienced trauma.

Personal

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I work part-time as an LPC-Intern and Counseling Center Assistant at a residential treatment facility. Outside the therapy room, I enjoy educating myself on counseling practices by reading or attending webinars, spending time with my family, traveling, exercising, and my guilty pleasure of watching Law and Order reruns.
